Theodore Roosevelt became president of the United States in 1901 to 1909. After he was president, he and a small group of 55 men went on an adventure to Brazil to explore the River of Doubt.  He went on the trip to get away from all the politics. On the journey he faced many hardships such as deadly rapids, Indian attacks, disease, starvation and murder. On the trip he nearly died. When him and his son came home, his son got married and had two children.
